The N.C. General Statute 89D requires that a person holding his or herself out in any way as a landscape contractor must be duly registered under terms of the law.
A nine-person board administers the requirement. Board members are appointed by the governor, commissioner of agriculture, NC Association of Nurserymen's Board, NC Landscape Association Board and the NC Chapter of American Society of Landscape Architects.
The NC Landscape Contractors Registration Board examines all applicants qualified for examination and maintains a registry of all registered individuals along with their place of employment. Registration is on an annual basis.
